My book, Curing my Incurable Eczema

My name is Cara and I am a thirty-four-year-old writer from the UK. 

I initially started this blog in September 2015 as a way of sharing my experience and eventual recovery from the iatrogenic condition, Topical Steroid Addiction (for more information on my journey, see the TOPICAL STEROID WITHDRAWAL dropdown link above). Even though recovering from TSA was by far tougher than anything I’d ever gone through in my life, and took 26/27 months to get better from, I can safely say it was the best thing that has ever happened to me as although the change in my skin was dramatic, the real healing happened in my mind, and in the months after recovering, I learned more about myself than I thought was possible. As a result, I finally learned to overcome some other demons I had been trying and failing to manage for well over sixteen years; Trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder) and Dermatillomania (skin picking disorder). I have also recently added another dropdown link to my blog titled LET'S TALK ABOUT (TSW) which shares my passion for TSW awareness, and the subjects related to it that I believe aren't being talked about enough. Together, through education and support, we can end the needless suffering by highlighting the dangers of all this medication and the reality of going through a drug withdrawal that is completely preventable. 

I have fought many battles with my skin over the years, but I finally feel like I’m winning, both in body and mind, and I want this blog to be a place where I can share my experiences, my passions, and pass on what I have learned about a few things that can feel like a bit of a minefield.
